Who is the trial for?

The MS01 trial is for people who have been newly diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma. Your doctor will take into account different factors (known as entry criteria) to make sure that the trial is suitable for you.

A diagnosis of mesothelioma will have been made within the previous three months.

  • Any pleural effusion must have been brought under control.
  • You can take part in the trial if you have had surgery to remove part of the mesothelioma or if you have had radiotherapy to the wound area after part of the mesothelioma has been removed.
  • You cannot go into the trial if you have previously had chemotherapy to treat the mesothelioma.
  • If you have had other types of cancer or have other medical conditions that may affect the results of the trial, you will not be able to go into the trial.
  • You must be considered medically fit enough to have the chemotherapy and well enough to look after yourself and be up and about for at least half of each day.
