Additional research
When your mesothelioma was diagnosed, samples of the cancer cells will have been stored in the pathology department (the hospital laboratory where tissue is studied).
If you take part in the MS01 trial, the research team will ask your permission to use some of that stored tissue for research in the future. They will also ask your permission to take a small amount of extra blood. The blood will be taken at the same time as your first blood test, before you start your chosen treatment plan.
The tissue sample and the blood sample will be stored at a specific laboratory under the care of the Medical Research Council and will be used for future research into mesothelioma.
This type of research is anonymous, meaning that neither you nor your relatives will be identified in any way. These studies will not affect your treatment.
You are free to decide not to take part in this part of the trial. If you do not want your samples to be stored, this will not affect your taking part in the main part of the trial or your relationship with your doctor.
