The three treatment plans
If you decide to take part in the trial, you will be randomly chosen to have one of three different treatment plans. You may be chosen to have:
- active symptom control alone, which means medicines to help treat any symptoms, but no chemotherapy
- active symptom control and one chemotherapy drug: vinorelbine, also called Navelbine (N)
- active symptom control and a combination of three chemotherapy drugs known collectively as MVP: mitomycin (M), vinblastine (V) and cisplatin (P).
If you are to have one of the chemotherapy options, the treatment will start as soon as it can be arranged.
The treatment plans are outlined on the next three pages.
