Confidentiality and safety
If you decide to take part in the trial, information will be collected by the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit (the trial is organised by the Medical Research Council).
Your GP will be informed, but otherwise all information about you and your treatment will remain strictly confidential. No individual patients are identified when the results of the trial are published in a medical journal or research report.
The trial has been carefully planned by leading cancer specialists and with ethics committees (including patients), who ensure that the trial is as effective as possible in comparing the effects of the treatments on people with mesothelioma.
The study will be reviewed regularly by an expert committee. They will look at how the patients receiving the different treatments are doing. This is so that if one of the treatment plans turns out to be much better or worse than the others, the trial can be stopped early.
