Raising sponsorship and creating your own online sponsorship page

To raise sponsorship may seem like an impossible challenge right now – but fear not! As soon as you register for one of our guaranteed race entries, we will send you a full sponsorship pack to help you with your challenge,

Here are some top tips to get you started….

1. Start your sponsor form off with your best sponsors – this will really set the trend. Why not even sponsor yourself?
    
2. Ask your employers for support – many companies will match £ for £ sponsorship raised for registered charities. This is tax efficient for them and a great way of doubling your sponsorship level. Or some companies may simply give you a contribution.
    
3. Collect the pledge straight away – most people will sponsor you as a total donation and not per mile, so why not ask for it there and then. This will save you time after the event!
    
4. Set yourself a target – tell people how much you’re aiming to raise. A high target really motivates sponsors to help you on your way.
    
5. Smile! Be happy and never feel guilty about asking people to sponsor you – you’re doing an extremely worthwhile task for CancerBACUP and we can’t operate without your help.
    
6. If you are currently in employment, why not look to your work colleagues for further donations. Use e-mail, pigeonholes, notice boards, communal areas, intranet sites and internal mail to help you raise funds. We can provide you with posters to display next to your sponsorship form to highlight the cause.
    
7. Why not use a staff newsletter if you have one.
    
8. And don’t forget that payday is a great time to ask for sponsorship!!
    
9. If you are in a position to do so, why not utilise your business contacts and clients for support and don’t forget ex-colleagues and previous employers!
    
10. Carry your sponsorship form wherever you go, so that you don’t miss an opportunity.
     
11. Don’t forget to write, phone, email and speak to everyone that you know to get their support.
     
12. Use your local clubs, gym, pubs and anywhere else that you may have connections.
