Leave a lasting legacy

Thank you for finding out how to help CancerBACUP by leaving a legacy.

Last year, legacy donations to CancerBACUP meant that 20,000 more people got straight through on the telephone for the help and support they needed.

There are a number of ways in which you can help.

  1. Leave the residue of your estate. After provisions for family and friends, you can leave the remainder of your estate, or a share of it, to CancerBACUP.
  2. Leave a gift of money. Such a gift will not be liable for inheritance tax and could actually reduce the tax burden on your estate.
  3. Leave a reversionary interest in property. For instance, you could leave your house to your partner for the rest of their life and thereafter to pass to CancerBACUP.

If you have already made a will, you can make changes by adding a codicil – a written provision to your will. Codicils need to be witnessed, signed and dated in exactly the same way as a will. Your solicitor will be able to advise you.

If you have any queries about leaving your affairs in order or leaving a legacy gift, please send for CancerBACUP’s new folder, ‘A friend you can always call on’.

Alternatively, please contact CancerBACUP’s Fundraising Department.
