CancerBACUP Tribute Funds
Dear Friend,
What is a Tribute Fund?
A Tribute Fund is a special fund that CancerBACUP can set up in the name of the person you have lost, (eg The John Smith CancerBACUP Tribute Fund). We hope that this can help you, your friends and family, to honour the life of your friend or loved one, to keep their memory alive and to help support the work of CancerBACUP.
All the money raised by Tribute Funds is spent on CancerBACUP’s vital services, such as our Freephone cancer information helpline. One person in every three is affected by cancer at some point in their life. CancerBACUP is dedicated to being there for them, now and in the future.
Is this the right choice for me?
Some people have found that setting up a Tribute Fund can be very helpful. At a difficult time, setting up a fund can provide a focus for people by drawing friends and family together. Anyone can donate or raise money for your Tribute Fund – now and as far into the future as they wish. And with every additional donation you’ll see the Tribute Fund in memory of your loved one grow. We’ll keep everyone who contributes up to date with the amount you’ve raised and send you inspirational ideas for raising more.
Everyone is different. Some people like to make a donation privately, perhaps on a birthday or special anniversary – while others like to remember a loved one publicly, perhaps organising a sponsored event for family friends and colleagues. Whatever you prefer, with a Tribute Fund you can be assured that your efforts will help provide vital support to the one in three people who might need CancerBACUP’s services.
How can I raise additional funds?
There are many ways that you, your family and friends can make further contributions to your Tribute Fund and watch it grow. Here are just a few examples:
- By simply making a single donation on a special occasion, important date or anniversary
- By making a small, regular monthly gift to CancerBACUP by standing order
- By organising a memorial fundraising event that people pay to attend
- By asking friends and family to sponsor you to take part in a challenge, perhaps something youyourself have always longed to do, or wondered if you could.
What if I choose not to raise any more donations in the future?
We understand that the option of setting up a Tribute Fund, while being right for some, is not for everyone. If this is true for you, please rest assured that you need take no further action.
Alice
