Follow up after treatment for large bowel cancer

After your treatment has finished, your doctor or nurse will want you to have regular check-ups and may ask you to have scans (CT, MRI or ultrasound), blood tests, x-rays and sometimes colonoscopies. These may continue for several years, but will become less and less frequent. If you have any problems or notice any new symptoms in between these times, let your doctor know as soon as possible.

For people whose treatment is over apart from regular check-ups, CancerBACUP’s section What now? gives useful advice on how to keep healthy and adjust to life after cancer.
